I believe these were made in the 60's and are an intermediate eye relief. They work slick on the little Browning 22 autos among others. These are 3/4-inch tubes and the scope is clear to my eyes. IIRC, they used to mount these just forward of the action on M94s back in the day.

I could see that on top eject rifles. That makes sense.

I think I might have the original base they used with those. IIRC the base mounts to the dovetail, and a tapped hole in the rear barrel band, and features a rear sight notch that works with the existing front when the scope is removed.
