Buy eggs instead of hunting gear Thankfully I got a coop out back. Although I seriously downsized this past spring.. I could be making $$$$$ had I kept all of them.

I don't suck at hunting! Animals suck at standing in front of me! Lol!

I've found that for me, the fastest/best way to bupkes is to be uber-prepared for success. Wanna kill a good deer? Forget the knife in the truck, camp, home or motel room - surefire way to success. Same applies for all other things associated with implicit or future success.

They say everything happens for a reason. For me that reason is usually because I've made some bad decisions that I need to pay for.

When I hunt an adjoining state (7 miles to state line from my house) I have to debone/etc to bring back in state. The land is only a few hundred yards from the state line. Not putting a cooler in the truck is a guarantee of success.

This year I have two youth bucks to my credit. As luck would have it they were both legal. Other than those two though I didn't see any legal buck while I was hunting. I saw lots of spikes and 4 points. I'll let the youth get their deer over me every time though. -Jake

I just finished up a couple antler/plaque mounts yesterday. A nice 8 point I killed back on Dec. 9 {rifle} and a 7 point I killed back on Nov. 11 {crossbow}. Was a pretty good season for me considering I spent most of it sick and in the hospital and only got to hunt 6 days total archery and rifle.

I m-m-m-missed one with my xbow early last season and thought my run was over. I was bummed, as I can make that shot easily on a target. Killed him with a rifle on the rifle opener to get even.
I think I’m ready to lose the xbow though and devote that part of the season to other hunting.
For me, sleeping over or deciding at the last minute to go is a good way to increase my odds.
What fresh Hell is this?

You wanna see a good one, forget your cartridges Couple years ago I told dad to bring his lever (glenfield model 30 .30-30) to deer camp and we'd chase doe for a couple days. We got up, got ready and I went out to start the truck, he came out a few minutes later "we got a problem...." He grabbed his Henry .22 . Luckily I keep a single shot 20 ga at the camp and he carried that and a pocketful of slugs that day. -Jake
