So not the reason I would have liked to plan a trip to Montana or the time I'd prefer to go see the state, but anyway my sister in law is getting married in Big Sky in July. My family will be out there for 5 days, I have one day to play/fly fish. The problem is that the guiding services that are recommended by the lodge we are staying at requires children be 11 or older. My two sons will be 9 and 4. One guide offers a family fishing session at one of their ponds. The cost to me seem pretty hefty for 4 people to fish for 2 hours, but it includes all the gear we need and no need to purchase out of state fishing license for the 1 day I'll have time to fish. Any one familiar with this area? Or could point me in the direction of a reputable guiding service?

Are you going to be in eastern Montana?
The catfishing on the Yellowstone is awesome!

We are staying at the Ranch where the wedding will be, 320 Ranch. I think thats South Yellowstone? Least that is the tour that was recommended to us as the closest.

The cost of a NR 0-11 was $0. Adults are $31.50 for a day license which includes Conservation license and AIS pass. Plenty of fishing access sights around there if you don't want to pay for a guide. Some of the water may be a bit big for your little guys, but you can judge that when you see it.

If you're in Big Sky and/or planning to fish on the Gallatin, check out East Slope Outdoors. We've used them multiple times and they were great. (There are a TON of trout just about everywhere you can walk in that river.) I can't say for sure if they had rules about kids, though. If he's still there, Alex is an excellent guide/teacher.
