Man, I’d hunt that combo myself as well.

Half of a good story here. I’ve got some older Silvertip 30-06 rounds and they look cool as heck. Conversely, the 180gr Round Nose CL ‘06 lays claim to “The Deadliest Mushroom in the Woods.” Each is a part of history. I love ‘em both. Almost too beautiful to shoot.

As a kid I thought all deer hunting ammo was Remington CoreLockt. That's all our group used and between 30-06s, 30-30s and my Dad's 8X57 they were all, always round nosed. They all, always worked.

I load almost all of my own ammo and have numerous boxes of both bullets in .30, .32, .348 and .35 caliber. I love both in the old bullets that I have , pre 1970 , but have only used the new bullets in the .35 Remington shooting the 200 gr Rn . They have always worked well for me and the new 200 grain .358 worked perfectly on the buck I killed in November. Don't know much about them compared to the newer premium bullets as I have stuck with the stuff I started with 50 or so years ago and never had a reason to want to quit. I scrounge for old boxes of both bullets regularly and is about the only reason I go to a gun show anymore.
