Hello all!
I have recently purchased a Springfield model 56 rifle and have some questions.
The front sight is different than any I have seen. It seems to have a spring/clip which inserts from the front and holds the sight in place by filling a groove on either side. Does anyone know where I might purchase a replacement sight?
On the left rear of the receiver it has a threaded hole with a milled slot on either side. I’m thinking this is a provision for an aperture sight. I’ve been told this might be a sight that is interchangeable with other models under other Savage brands. Does anyone have information on how to identify such a sight and where I might purchase one?
Any information you might offer on this rifle is much appreciated!
Rick

The front sight is the No 100 and would come with three inserts as shown in the link above, if you have an insert and the wire clip the hoods are available from Numrich - .gunpartscorp/products/557400 it slides over the wire clip.

Here's a picture that has the No 100 front and No 105 rear - no-100-no-105-no-150-no-175 The No 105A mentioned is just the No 105 with a small diameter single hole aperture, the smaller disk is needed to clear the plug on the rear of the receiver on semi-autos. Numrich had the attachment screws but I don't see them listed anymore, possibly they sold out. 105-peep-sight I think Rick had some made at one time by Apertures & More????

When it became available the No 19 windage adjustable folding barrel sight became standard on guns with the No 100 & No 105 sights.

Yes I have several of the attachment screws for the 105 peep sight if anyone needs one.
