OP SamOlson Campfire 'Bwana Joined: Feb 2006 Posts: 43,822 Hi-Line	It was payday last Thursday. I asked the trucker what he thought the top half of the steers would weigh, he was right on the money. It's tough to judge from the vid but feel free to take a guess. (we did pull the 10 lightest calves from the pen)

MartinStrummer Campfire Tracker Joined: Dec 2021 Posts: 3,460	IIRC, somewhere around 800 to 900 pounds is the perfect "ROI" (return on investment) weight for market calves. Less than 800 pounds and you leave "money on the table". Over 900 pounds, the price/cwt goes down. That means the difference in price isn't worth the extra time, feed and care required to exceed 900 pounds. 800 to 900 pounds.
