I'd like to avoid this thread descending into a big discussion about the terribly unfair decision Twitter made in suspending Sen. Daines of MT.

Daines suspended by Twitter over hunting pic

My observation is:
1- That's a nice goat! And a great pic of him and Mrs. Daines.
My question is:
2 - Is that blaze camo legal in MT? I hunt MT every year and always thought the 400 square inch above the waist rule had to be solid hunter orange. If blaze camo is legal, I'll take that vest next time!

Thanks,
Rex

I wear similar orange camo every year here. Never had an issue but then have never encountered a game warden in the field to question it.

Doesn't have to be solid.

Thanks,
I just did a search through the regulations and every reference is just to "hunter orange." with no definition (that I could find) of what "hunter orange" is other than one reference to "fluorescent orange." Still curious. My home state of AZ does not require orange but one AZ military installation I hunt elk on does, and they make a distinction between solid and orange camo - used to only allow solid, now allow either, and it's clearly stated.

Reckon I could call MT G&F but will have to avoid throwing Sen. Daines under the bus!

Cheers,
Rex

Just called the "Enforcement" number in the 2022 Deer/Elk/Antelope regs and spoke to a lady who confirmed it was OK if the required "fluorescent orange" garment had "a pattern in it", like camo, as long as it was visible as orange.

I have similar orange Camo that I use mostly for opening day of rifle season in Alberta.
Not sure if it would be legal in Saskatchewan, just to the East of me.

Yeah the orange camo is legal here and a follow up. Elon Musk personally called Steve Daines to reinstate his twitter account.

TRexF16: I have seen Hunters going through check stations with that "Camo" style orange vests/jackets on them and the Wardens never question that apparel.
I have seen MANY Hunters being cited for Hunting big game during Rifle season with no orange clothing on though - this is especially observable in "Antelope country".
The wardens are serious about this orange garment regulation in my observations.
I have always used solid orange upper garments - doesn't seem to diminish my success rates.
That Pronghorn Antelope trophy that the Daines family harvested makes me proud that I donated to him/worked to elect him/voted for him.
Good for the Daines family!
