Looking for load data specific to a 22” 270 WSM. The rifle is being used with a suppressor. What powders are you using and what velocity are you getting. Lastly, accuracy would be a priority above velocity.

I doubt many shooters would use different load data from what is seen in a typical 23-24" barrel. Not enough difference to matter, regarding powder choice and such. With that round, I bet you will be down around 40fps per inch of barrel length below a 24", so probably not even worth sweating. It also wouldn't be uncommon to get back 10-30fps with the use of the can.

Probably switch from the slowest powders to the medium burn rate powders. Use the fastest burning powder that meets performance expectations

Kind of what I assumed. Asked the question to basically see what powders others were using at what velocity and what accuracy they were achieving.

Read as many sources of data as possible. It's going to be tough to match lab results. Then decide how many firings per case you want. I've learned to use the minimum possible charges that deliver performance expectations in order to extend case life and get a couple extra rounds per pound of powder. Start with good cases, and a temp stable powder. Sample factory ammo for use as a baseline and try to at least duplicate or approximate it.

JPro is spot on with this. I load for a 270 WSM with a 24” barrel myself, but I would t expect you to lose more than 100 fps and probably less off your total velocities compared to what a 24” barrel gives you. I’ve played around with a few different powders and so far Magpro and either H4350 or IMR4350 have given me the best results.

Happy with 140 Accubonds and RL26. 3200fps out of a 24” Tikka. If stuck with a shorter barrel, I’d probably look at 150s.

Reloder 22, 140 Nosler accubond or 140 Sierra gameking, using nosler reloading data. Velocity 3090 FPS out of 23” barrel.

Magpro in mine - 24”. Just use the normal data. Nobody gets the same as published velocity anyway. I’ve had two guns that were basically identical but they had 100 fps difference between them. Like someone said above, go with a faster burning power and run whatever shoots the best in yours. No deer or elk cares about 100 fps anyway.

I like H3831 or R-19, I use 150 grain bullets (Speer SPBT and Partitions) in Kimber Montana. Last time I chrono the Speers I averaged 2900 fps with 60.0 grains R-19

I would start with H4831. Possibly H1000 as a second choice.

The powder which gives highest velocity in a 28 inch barrel will also give highest velocity in a 16 inch barrel.

Albeit with a bit more muzzle flash. And not necessarily the same level of accuraccy

I use a max load of H1000 & 140gn Accubonds in my Winchester M70 laminated classic 24" bbl. Velocity averages close to 3000fps.
