Anyone have any experience with replacing the factory laminate stock with a Hogue? I'm led to believe that the width of the magazine, as well as the bbl contour might be of concern. Hogue lists a couple of 77 MKII SA stocks. A 'standard barrel' version, a 'heavy' barrel version and a 'heavy/varmint' version. Got an email out to Hogue, but haven't heard back from them.
I never thought I'd grow up to be a grumpy old man, but I did, and I'm killin' it.

My experience could just be anomalous, but I had way better luck calling Hogue than them to reply to emails.

To answer your question though, and yeah probably best to talk to hogue directly, a standard barrel contour stock should work if I recall correctly.

What I find interesting is that Hogue lists a stock the LA with a 'B' barrel, which I can only assume is a magnum caliber barrel. No such thing in the SA stocks.

Did Ruger make any of the compact magnums in synthetic orientation?
Was the Scout rifle a magnum contour barrel in 308?
What about a synthetic from a MKII that was on one of the WSM or RSAUM models?

Ruger did make the RCMs in a synthetic configuration, however the stocks themselves seen to be unobtanium.
FWIW, I did spot a 338RCM on GB that's sitting in a Hogue. So there is hope.....

Update: Just got of the phone with Hogue. Ruger77 MKII SA stock with Heavy barrel channel is a drop-in fit for the RCMs.

Part 2:
Anyone have a Hawkeye or Guide Gun in 338 RCM that would care to pass along some magazine dimensions? Specifically, the outside width, front and rear, of the magazine box itself.
