Personally, I'm fond of several of the German hefeweizens. Paulaner, Tucher, and the one I can't pronounce that has a really long name and starts with a W. I also like Leinenkugel Original, but it is only available in WI or some limited distance from the brewery.

We get leinenkugel in Virginia. Used to be a bar had it on tap for $3 pitcher night many years ago.

Being owned by Miller helps their distro

I've liked most of the Leinenkugel I have tried.

It has been a long time, but I used to be able to get August Schell Pilsner. I remember it as being pretty good. I don't think they sell that one anymore, even if the brand distribution still reached down to Cajun country.

You Heine haters are nuts

I'm with Sam, I love the green skunk beers. I do think they changed Stella when it's started being brewed in the US though.

Today's purchase

Yours probably isn't skunked, having been in an enclosed box.

It's not.

Much better than the occasional 22 oz I grab out of the rack

As much as I love my Croatian friends - I find Karlovacko to be the worst beer in the world.

The Heineken at the brewery was quite good. Most European beers are better there but the exports don't measure up for the most part. My favorite was Bitburger Pils but the export is only fair, in Germany it was great, same for Heineken in Holland. The only beer we got during Desert Shield was non-alcoholic but that was in Saudi Arabia. Bahrain had full test but I'd become a real lightweight by Desert Storm and found my limit was two.

It was $1.99 sixers of Old Mil[the real Old Mil] in those days for me.

We had a Carling brewery one town over when I was in College.. They use to offer free kegs when we had dances on campus for free... after the first time they accepted it, we declined after that...college kids rejecting free beer...

Then it was sold and they were brewing Tuborg over there.. same offer as before, same results.... one shindig and never again...

They they were making Heiniken over there, same offer again, first and only time.... refusals after that...

Over in NY State they had a been in those days called Maximus Super.. the alcoholic content was off the charts compared to anything else and they sold it in New England also... besides NY...

Worst beer I ever had or tasted was from over in NY also... Rheingold, & Knickerbocker....Rheingold tasted like someone has scooped it out of the urinal that would never flush....and Knickerbocker was worst....the Blacks loved it tho... It showed up on campus, and being a southern boy, I started calling it Ni^^er Knocker....on our campus the Name stuck....The Brothers sure loved it tho....

I was never a big beer connoisseur, but I did develop a like for a lot of Canadian beers, Labbots (?) & Molsons, I especially like Molson's X ...

Up in Ottawa I got introduced to a beer I think they only did in bars.... by a couple of Off duty Mounties my age no less...

Molsons 22... It was in a 22 ounce bottle and was evidently 22 % alcohol.... sure tasted good... but after three when I had to go to the men's room, my ass got about 6 inches out of my seat, the room started spinning and I was flat back on my ass in about 2 seconds...

The two young mounties, that got my drunk, escorted me back to the Youth Hostel there in Ottawa ( which was the old jail)... we got pulled over by a couple of Ottawa's finest, but since the other two guys were Mounties, and they were going to stay at the Youth Hostel that night also, the Ottawa police escorted us to the Hostel, bid us a good night, and that was it... I always like partying up in Canada... they were a lot more user friendly than stateside... I'd run into off duty cops in bars up there, and they would take me under their wing with me being an American...get me plastered and then get me to a good hotel or invite me home to sleep it off on their living room couch...never got a ticket up there for DUI...

I miss Lowenbrau. Glacier Bay was short lived but great. Genesee for cheap. Rheingold, Scheaffer and Schmidt's back east. Bud in desperation maybe after Olde English. But Natural Lite and all that lower tier crap? That does not compute. Lite beer does not rhyme at all. Coors at the brewery only. Beck's is too iffy anymore like Heineken. Modelo chugged really cold. And as the man says, Dos Equis, if you're stuck in taco town. Stella, baby! It's barely beer for whinos, but I drink it.
