So is it a solid bottom single shot or is it a repeater with a single shot follower in it?

Any idea of round count?

Action screw spacing? 4.275” or 4.400”

I wish it was a 22-250 but it still peaks my interest. Only a barrel and bolt head swap from a 22-250.

Thanks for your questions and interest.

It’s a solid bottom single shot

No idea of round count. I purchased it from an 82 year old man who said it was “too damn heavy” for him. He talked about shooting it, but I have no idea how many times.

4.275” action screw spacing

I have this gun in a repeater and it’s an accurate prairie dog killing machine.

9 twist & small shank barrel threading (1.060")

These are great shooters and a budget platform for using custom barrel set ups

Been shooting Savage s/shots for 25+ yrs.....built many Pac Nor barrels to swap out

Great price/free bump

I saw this while looking online....

https://www.savageshooters.com/content.php?305-Savage-223-Remington-Twist-Rate-History

seems 1:7 was an option beginning in 2008....(not sure the yr of this rifle)

curious if there was a note or tag on box ....but if nothing to indicate the 1:7 option than I would guess it would be the 1:9 standard

If you look at the label on the box, it COULD say "1-9ROT223" to the right of "Mod 12 VLP" ... but a sticker has been ripped off and I can not swear that is what was once there.

I believe that if it were a 7twist it would be stamped “(7)” or “7-twist”on the barrel right after the 223 REM stamping. Not 100% sure, but that is what they did with other calibers with a fast twist option(I.e. 22-250 9-twist)

I had a Model 12 in 22-250 for my p. dog gun. It was very accurate and could shoot many rounds before the barrel heated up. Great gun and easy to load from the left side (right handed shooter) for a single shot. Great guns

No sign of 7 twist markings on this one. No response from Savage Arms customer support either.
