Hi folks,

I've been looking for a while and just purchased the following Al Biesen rifle.

I've been waiting to get one and was expecting to have to pay more for a Biesen. This is an interesting rifle as versus many of the Biesen rifles I've seen out there it seems rather simple - perhaps the lower price?. I note that it does not have a forend tip nor a grip cap - is the stock American Walnut? To me it it is a simple yet elegant rifle - what says the campfire?

I had a Biesen built on the same action. He made super fine rifles. Congratulations

I looked at that rifle.
You have a rifle which was likely made in the early years after his move to W Sinto.

Biesen really liked the 25-06, his personal mule deer and antelope rifle was one, but I believe the rifles he chambered before Remington standardized the cartridge had slightly different chamber dimensions so don’t be surprised if you find some differences. Don’t fiddle with his chamber. Adjust your ammunition.

It isn’t unusual to get a rifle w/o a tip or steel grip cap. Later they became common but not everyone ordered them.

Stock could be California English or American but it makes no real difference. The rifle was likely made in the late 50’s or early 60’s so it makes no difference cause the wood is dry. Most importantly the stick is well laid out.

Looked again and the wood looks more like English to me.

I keep looking at this rifle and the only thing that I wonder about is the pad. I can’t remember when that model was first made.

I think you got a GREAT deal on that rifle. I am shocked that these great old customs are going for such a low price.
