If you don't remove the bolt and your barrel is tight, u run the risk of breaking extractor Couldn't you just lock the bolt to the rear rather than removing it to prevent any potential damage to the extractor? Yes, if you have the stock bolt hold open. The Ruger design is very stable. Putting in the aftermarket automatic bolt release will easily slam the bolt closed when you don’t want it to.

You could lock the bolt back and tape the pins so they dont fall out. But if your that far into it whats another minute or two to remove the rest. But it isn't required. Apparently you people are too fugging stupid to understand a simple question. Wow, so angry! Not sure your a good candidate to be a gun owner.......... It sure trumps being stupid.

Sweet Jesus, pull bolt back and stick a pencil in the ejection slot if it worries you so.

Coming from a guy who has made it clear he’s both I still think you need to get rid of your guns sweet pea. Someone is going to say something to hurt your feelers, even if it’s not directed at you, and you spin out. Learn to control your feelers and life will be SO much better for you. You can do it!!
