About a month ago, I was in a local sporting goods store, with my wife. As we walked about the store looking for some stuff to purchase, to help support the local High School Shooting Team, Items would be donated to help raise $$$ for the youngsters Trap and Skeet Team.
I was thinking about buying a nice shotgun for the dinner, to be actioned off or a Raffle Item. (Too Much Paperwork with That) So, we made a nice donation to help with the dinner.
We did buy some smaller items that fit nicely in a backpack. (This will be for the raffle)

Then she asked me, if there was anything I saw that I would like to have? I said, well yeah; we are in a gun store. I pick out a 1911 RIA 45 ACP. I've always wanted to try one of these. So now, that 45 is at my Gunsmith's getting an action job, and new sight installed. While we were at this store, I was looking at other firearms, one of them was a Colt Python. I happened to be looking at a 3" model.

Long story/short. I come home yesterday; my wife has a gift wrapped up for me in my chair. I unwrapped it to find a 3-inch Colt Python.

Now you know, why I feel blessed.

I did have one of those older Python's; I purchased it in 1976. I shot the heck out of the gun. I had to have it rebuilt, new trigger and hammer. I gave this gun to my son about ten years ago. Not long after I gave it away, I was wanting another. My want was filled by lovely wife.

Take care.

Feels good, doesn't it? I have a wife like that, she has done similar surprise gun purchases for me in the past. I try to do the same for her with the stuff she likes occasionally. Life is good...

My wife did something like that several years ago at the CMP South store. I was having a hard time choosing between two Garands and she said, “just go on and get both of them.” So I did. It happened again about a year ago in my local gun/pawn shop. I was trying to decide between a Tisas “carry” model and a SIG P210. Same answer…”get ‘em both”.

I do the same when she wants to buy something. Plus I bought her an anniversary ring for our 50th last summer. She was pretty surprised for once. It works out. 😁

I was perplexed over buying myself a $125.00 flashlight and was talking about my misgivings with the store clerk. She said, “Do you think that your wife tells you how much she pays for a new pair of shoes?” Ouch, nuff said.

My other auto is a .45

You have a very special lady. Mine wouldn't do that. To her credit she wouldn't say a word if I did it for myself though. I've got a very special gift for her this year! For Valentines day I got her the usual assortment chocolates and scented candles but at the bottom of the bag she's gonna find a S&W M&P E-Z .380 along with a weapon light/laser combo. I was cleaning my Sig P365XL last week and when I reassembled it I handed it her. She took a sincere interest in it until I asked her to rack the slide. I'm hoping she can manipulate the slide on the S&W. I'd love to take her shooting and get her proficient with it.

My wife also loves to go shooting.
Her parents had three girls and no boys; so, she always went shooting with her dad.
I was with her when she got her first deer.

Life is good.

Hammerdown: Good for you on the wonderful and thoughtful wife!
Enjoy that pistol as well as your wife.
I had a similar "incident" befall me last year.
My wifes life long friend was settling her Aunts estate and in it was an unfired N.I.B. Colt Peacemaker with both 22 LR and 22 Magnum cylinders as well as two sets of Colt grips!
My wifes friend sent several pictures of the pistol and the box contents that had been left over from when the Uncle passed on.
She wanted a "fair and quick sale" evaluation from me and I sent it to her via E-mail.
I happened to mention to my wife that I would love to have such a nice pistol but it was several hundred miles distant.
Some months later my wife returned home from visiting her friend and gifted me that beautiful mint little revolver - it is one of my prized possessions, mostly because of the thoughfulness and effort the VarmintWife went through to send payment for and then go fetch that pistol for me.
Good marriages are indeed an amazing blessing.
Hold into the wind
