63 grainer, ( Sierra SMP)... 23 to 26.5 of Reloader 15...this is for the 223.

I can tell ya from experience in my bolt action 223s, if you want the max punch with that bullet, there is no problem upping the charge up to 28 grains in my rifles...brass or rifle never noticed the difference...

If it is NOT hot weather or high temps...take a look at the charge for W 748 down below that...I've used that for both the Sierra 63 SMP and the Speer SMP 70 grain...give the candidate a real hard punch....

for the 22.250:

https://stevespages.com/224_7_63.html

also look at W 748 here also... both bullets will stabilize in a one in 14 twist, so 1 in 12 or 1 in 10 will present NO problems stabilizing... with any powder..

I do have some 748 and just a bit of BLC(2). I was at a gun shop Monday and saw some BLC(2) on the shelf so it looks like it is making a return. I haven't see 748 for a while. I have never used Reloader 15 before so this will be a new learning curve. 28 grains in a .223. That's pretty aggressive. I don't foresee the day when that will happen but a guy never knows.

A 63 or 70 grain bullet stabilizing in a 14 twist. That's pretty interesting. Sierra also makes a 65 grain btsp that looks like a great choice. But, everyone seems to be sold out of those. The 22-250 I picked up was on the shelf at the local Fleet and Farm for about 2 weeks. I was pretty surprised to see it last that long. As per the salesperson that was the only one they had in the store and they had no ammo for it. I had the choice of a .223 Predator, a 6.5 Predator and the 22-250. I think I made the right choice.

The 2 pages you book marked aren't coming up.

Try again this morning on the links. I wonder if they might have been down just for site maintanence.

I have the link to Steve's Pages on my task bar, so never have a problem.

or just google Steve's Pages : https://stevespages.com/page8a.htm

the site is easy to navigate...even for Mr All Thumbs like me...

One thing I miss back in the Midwest, is the Fleet and Farm stores... AND their prices vs what the same items cost here on the Left Coast...

I found some hanger rash on the receiver that was obvious and they gave me 10% off. I wish I had the money and I'd do the .223 Predator as well.

You should hear how they talk about you down at the social disease clinic.

It's good to have friends that back you up. Seafire has a point there Pharm. Just where do you hang out at ?? In truthfulness, someone has to be selling meds to the social disease people. I'm glad it's not me.

This of course was all in fun conversation.. Pharm is a good guy... Met him once when he was down this way... Had some powder he was looking for real bad.. knew where I could pick some up... I think it was RL 26.. bought 2 pounds and met up at his hotel... we talked in the lobby for a few minutes...Good guy

early 80s when I lived in Minnesota, worked as a sales rep with a Major Fortune 250 company... we had 50 sales reps out of the office..
me and a buddy who use to work together there, were out and the temp dropped to like 30 below.. and the snow started flying...
yet we were supposed to be back at the office at 5 PM for an end of the month sales meeting

so we were in my territory on Lake St, and Scott says, hey we passed an x rated movie place 2 blocks back.. lets just kill time going in and watch a movie or two... its one o'clock.. they had a thing that same sex couples got in for $2.00.. so we held hands and acted like we were a couple..

we get in there and sit in the back, with a seat in between us.... when the light off the screen got light enough Scott taps me and says " hey isn't that so & so down toward the front....turns out 5 other sales reps had come up with the same idea Scott and I had...

I was a field manager, so when we got back to the office for our 5 o'clock meeting, these 5 guys were standing over together having a conversation, away from the other folks.... so I walked over to them.. and said to them... Hey I heard a rumor that you guys spent the afternoon down at some Porn Movie dive watching movies instead of being out working.... they turned white and almost pissed their pants... Told them, don't worry, I'm not going to say anything to upper level management, but I better never hear of that again, got it?

They took off in a hurry. Scott was laughing, the guys were so scared, no one bothered to even ask how we knew that...I said nothing, but these guys always tip toed around me the rest of the time I worked there...

That reminded me, so that is why I asked the question, how did Pharm know what the people at the Social Disease Center said about you? without being there...

Sales guy stuff...

I wore out a 1-8"tw 22-250 22" rock rock creek barrel with 33.5gr of r15 in win brass and 205m's. Velocity was 3250 with moly'd 75amaxs. It was a fun barrel.

210m's not 205

I have a 1:8 Krieger in 22-250 AI on a 700 action and had the same issue as ERK. Could never get the Hornady 75s to group consistently. Ended up with 80 gr SMK.

Altitude can make a difference... not so much back east as it does out west here... ( I'm from the east coast originally ).

that twist is borderline... sometimes being on the cusp... try upping the velocity just a hair...and it might stabilize better...

a 75 A Max or BTHP do just fine in a 223 with a one in 8..

The other thing may just be the powder and charge you are using...

I have times I see that a bullet won't stabilize at our local range which is at 1200 ft altitude.. but I go up into the mountains to 2000 or 2500 ft in altitude and it stabilizes just fine and gives tighter groups...

Fastest loads I get in a regular 22.250 with a one in 8 and one in 9 twist, has been with IMR 4064, IMR 4895, and RL 15... instead of it being with slower powders, as I originally thought...

Thanks Seafire. I tried H-414, 4350, and R19 at loads that produced velocities from ~3000 to ~3500. Couldn't get it to work consistently. I did not try 4064, however. Sort of seems like just something with this rifle and bullet. They aren't friends.

What Reupold scope are you using? Mounts/rings? Stock? Brass? Dies? Hint.

If groups aren't round, your rifle is screaming "MECHANICAL!". Hint.................
