Been watching this for about a week. Was at $663 dollars for days. Silly me, I though I might have a shot at it for a reasonable price at one point.

These, or very nearly the same model, were about $900 at CDNN a few years back, when $900 was a problem for me.

Shill bidders abound on GunBroker these days IMHO. Start the bid @ $.01, and your listing costs are minimal. Have a couple buds that have few transactions bid the price up. When I see guns that are out of the mainstream and you've got a couple NR biddders or folks that have less than 15 transactions, I do not bid.

ya!

That won’t work with me. I may be impulsive at times and take a swing at something without really thinking it through, but I’m pretty good about deciding what something is worth to me and sticking to it.

Thought that one might be a fun stump-sitting piece, and it’s factory drilled and tapped, but good grief!

Those things have always been the ugly ducklings of the repro single shot world. I can think of two of them, both in our neck of the woods Pappy, that lingered for sale in LGS's for years before selling. We had a running gag in the one shop about taking up a pool to see how long it would take to sell, but then we realized that one of us could buy it himself just to win the pool.

What caught my eye was the cartridge and the factory D&T. The ones at CDNN weren’t drilled IIRC. That aside, my .44 Traditional Hunter beats it on all counts.

There are some .357s similar to mine but drilled online, but with a perfectly good Henry shooter in hand, buying one would be an extravagance. ‘Course, wifey’s gonna be away for five months, and accidents happen…🤔

I've often thought that model of 1885 in 45/70 would be an exciting experience! Seriously thought about the 38-55 back when then could be had NIB for $800 or $900.

The various Browning/Winchester single shots usually have excellent barrels, but I don't like a barrel that short, and I really don't like the slick steel buttplates. 22" seems to me to be a happy minimum - handy inside a blind, and still shorter than a magazine rifle. I have a #1 in .44 mag with a 20" barrel, and have been tempted to either rebarrel it, or sell it, despite having nice wood.
