I was in need of a simple and quiet pellet trap. I took a small cardboard box, put an old towel in it and taped it up. Put a few dots on it to shoot and wahla. Works great. The towel absorbs the energy from the pellet easily and quietly. The box is a handy backer for the target spots. Have put 100 or so pellets into my new pellet trap (20+ into 1/2" area) with no pass throughs or issues other than the box getting shot up. Might be time to move the towel to a new box. Give it a try if you are in need of a simple, cheap and effective back yard pellet trap.

I use a cardboard box heavily stuffed with newspaper and a few hardback books in the center of all the paper for indoor shooting in the garage. Once one side of the box gets shot up too badly I just turn it 90° to a fresh side.

I've got a box full of that rubber playground mulch. When I shoot the front up I wrap it in duct tape.

Suspending inner tube pieces behind targets in a box also makes for a good backstop.

Mine were going through 2x12s. I switched to a 3" thick mesquite cookie

I used to tape hard bound books shut and shoot them in the basement during the winter. Mom had hoarded a bunch from the thrift store..

It made comparing penetration and expansion of different pellets easy and the pellets were captured!

Pellet pistol shooting needed a softer target.

Small (1 foot by 1 foot) cardboard box filled with sand 4-6" deep. You can slide in a replacement sheet of cardboard in the front of the box when it starts leaking sand from too many holes. If you're leaving the box outside, tape the bottom with packaging tape to preserve box integrity.

I bought a electrical box, and put in plumbers putty followed by magazines and a folded towel. AEvery zillion rounds I pitch the magazines and towel. Front is grooved to slide in targets. Looks very nice. I shooy about 800fps with 10 grain 177 and have no issues.

I use old jeans in a small box!

Don't know why I never though of this. I like to recover my bullet's to use making cast loads and reusing the cast loads. Used to have dirt back stop and carries along a sive and schovel to do it with. But hard to find anything worth shooting into here so generally just go up to the rael pit and shoot. Gravel really tears up the bullets maaking it very hard to recover much og value! Cardboard box and couple bucket's of dirt might be just the thing! Get done shooting, save the dirt and when I get home tape up the holes in the box!

I do not cast bullets anymore so I give my son all my fired lead pullets! I also make my sand bags from old jeans. Gives my wife something to do! lol
