I've got a Baikal .410 sxs that I picked up a couple years ago. Searches show they seem to be well made but the finish isn't the greatest. This one looks like new, anyone here have any experience with these good or bad?

I had a 28 ga SXS and it worked great. As you said, fit and finish was lacking but for the price and it being a field gun, I did not care. Decided I wanted something better and sold it.
I may not be smart but I can lift heavy objects
I have a shotgun so I have no need for a 30-06.....

always seem to be a solid mechanically and a good performer. if I remember correctly the finish was kind of a waxy if it got wet and could be wiped off and then you were down to kind of bear wood if I remember correctly..

Fine solid user guns. Nothing fancy, but they work.

I have had an MP-153 in 12ga 3-1/2 for years. It has a black plastic stock with some type of black metal finishing. The finish isn't very durable as in it scratches easily but it always goes bang.

Like most double guns, the older the gun the better the quality. I still have an IJ-54 and a more recent IJ-43. The 54 is much nicer in fit and finish compared to the 43. All in all they are decent guns, very reliable. Many find the length of pull rather shorter than on other makes. Easily remedied with a spacer if need be.
In the past I’ve also had an IJ-26 and an IJ-58. The 410 you are looking at is most likely an IJ-58 or the newest version an IJ-43 (Remington did import them as the Spartan I believe).

Had a Remington version single shot come in my shop. Needed a firing pin and nothing available. I drilled the old pin and a piece of drill bit shank in a hole I drilled. Protrusion measured, end profiled. Worked a charm.

Thank for the replies, I have someone interested in it but I might hand on to it for a rabbit and grouse gun. My problem with it is no ammo, and haven't seen any for quite awhile. Getting used to the single trigger might interesting also.

Had one made in the seventies, TOZ66, side by side hammer double, Greener cross bolt. Full and fuller. Got a second one in coach configuration. Chrome lined barrels. Shot them in BP matches, killed turkies with the long one and like an idiot sold both when my truck needed a clutch. Solid. Much nicer than the crap Remington imported.

I have a hammerless Remington branded single shot .410 made by Baikal. It’s pretty crude n fit and finish, but works every time. It has saved the day on family lessons and folks who developed an aversion to recoil (such as a wife or girlfriend pushed to shoot her man’s 12 gauge 870).
