I saw a couple of CZ 457 synthetics yesterday for about $550. Try Gun Genie, and maybe Elk County. Thought about one for myself briefly, but I’m hoping my S&W 5.7 ship comes in…..
JB says it’s-call about the chamber on the mags, and good ones happen in all models. I think the odds with a CZ are pretty good.
I also like 9422Ms, but the one I had was only so-so, and prices are way up there.
What fresh Hell is this?

I’ve had excellent accuracy with a CZ 452. It particularly likes CCI hollow points. And completely reliable.

I have a few 22 mags. By far the most accurate is a Vudoo V22. It feeds/functions perfectly. Vudoo recommended the Hornady 30 gr Vmax and it does shoot it good. However it shoots the CCI 30 gr Vmax Really Really good. This rifle is set upto hunt. Went with the Greyboe Outlander stock and 18” spiral fluted Specter contour barrel.it has turned into one of my all time favorites
Four others that come to mind that were a step above from my experience anyhow were:
1) Anschutz model? Cant recall its been a long time.seems like it was a 1516. 2)Sako Quad that i stll have. 3)Blaser R93 22mag kit that i Wish i still had 4)Cooper 57m

I have 2 now a 9422m and a ca 452. Both are very accurate. Maybe the most accurate one I owned was a Marlin bolt tube fed. Outstanding. Wish I would have never sold it, but a .22m in a Marlin 1894 wanted a new home. It would not keep 5 shots on a snuff can at 50 yards! Sold it and was without till 15 years ago bought the 452 at a yard sale. Lucky day.

I currently have 19 rifles chambered in .22 MAG, not including Savage 24 combination guns, The Anschutz 1518 is probably the most accurate, but not enough better than Marlin 882s, 883s, 982s, and 983s to justify the difference in cost if accuracy was the only consideration. Like most rimfires, they are all pretty ammo sensitive. If I was only able to keep one rifle in .22 MAG it would be the Marlin 983S, the epitome of rugged and reliable.

I only have one .22 Mag at the moment, Savage 93 FV. I use it mainly as a prairie dog rifle, I've restocked it into a laminate varmint stock and did some trigger work. However, it shot well in the plastic stock and Federal ammunition with 30 grain Speer TNT HP is what it likes to eat. I had a Marlin 25 MN .22 Mag and it shot as well as the Savage with the same ammunition.
I sold the Marlin when all rimfire ammunition became scarce and expensive. I would have sold the Savage and kept the Marlin, as it was a better walking around rifle. I had about $600 in my 93 with purchase, new stock, bedding, and trigger job and you could buy a new one for less than $250.

A few comments:
Have owned a bunch of .22 Magnums in rifles that cost up to $1000, including many mentioned here.
The most consistently accurate with various kinds of ammo has been the Ruger American purchased around a decade ago, for half the standard price at a local store during a sale. It will put 5 shots of every kind of ammo tried so far into an inch or less at 100, and some much better.
Thought this was interesting so e-mailed the guy who was head of production at Ruger and asked why this might be so. He said, "Luck?" But a friend of mine was so impressed with my American during a day of ground squirrel shooting that he bought one, and it shot the same way.
Hitman, the 30-grain V-Max ammo labeled Hornady and CCI comes off exactly the same machines at the CCI factory. I know this due to seeing it happening during a factory visit.

A few years ago I picked up this BRNO for what I thought was a very fair price ($800) as it came with the original 6 shot magazine and an extended 10 shot one. I had my local shop work the trigger and shoots what it likes pretty well. A beautifully made rifle no doubt. ![[Linked Image from i.imgur.com]](https://i.imgur.com/WSmOplo.jpg)

Those BRNO 611 are exceptionally well made rifles. One of the finest 22 mag. ever produced. Looks like EdM's is proof of that. How well does it like Win. 40gr. ?

One more vote for the Marlin 883S here! Stainless with laminate stock, tube fed so you never lose a magazine, and accurate enough to shoot eggs at 100 yards!
My old gun club had Egg shoots for their rimfire crowd. They had egg holders on the top of the target frames at 100 yards and one day took my gal out to shoot with me. Put some eggs up on the frame and we sat there at the bench popping them with that Marlin 22 mag. Likes most any ammunition and is a stone-cold killer!
Good luck!

I can't afford eggs and the ammunition both these days. I'll just keep buying ammo and buy some AR-500 egg cutouts. Shooting real eggs will bankrupt a guy! 🤣

I have a CZ455 gathering dust. Cannot find a .22 mag bbl for it. So am thinking send the .22 lr barrel off to be reamed to .22 mag.
Have a 14" Contender and a 9422M, but the CZ I think would be a better hunter (scoped).

My CZ was a great gun. It shot nice groups at a 100 yards. I traded it to my nephew and it gets a lot of use around the farm yard on varmints.

I’ve found that the 30 grain vmax shoot great but I’ve had poor terminal Performance with them

No love for the Marlin 783’s? Favorite of mine. Can’t quote the differences between the 783 and those that came after. Ruger American close second with a Savage 93 right behind. CZ barrel just sits on the shelf. Love it with the threaded 22lr. Ruger All-Weather needs some range time. CPC did a “tune-up”, I just havnt spent much time with it yet.
My experience with 22WMR rifles has taught me how ammo lot numbers can make a big difference. True I guess with 22lr too but accuracy seems to vary much more with various lots of 22WMR.
