Not sure what your issue(s) are, but each successive Liberal govt has moved us further to the socialist left.
When we do manage to elect a conservative govt , they don’t last long enough to repair much of the damage inflicted.

And so the pendulum swings …

Agreed. It would be interesting to know the rational. The statement would be similar to a Canadian saying all Americans are arrogant.

I am not keeping up with all your law changes for firearms, but I just heard from a friend that his buddy in Ontario has quite a few Remington 742's and now they are illegal??? Is that so?

Good morning to you, I trust it's morning already out in Michigan - still dark here in southern BC - and that you're well.

There was up until a few days ago an amendment to the Liberal/NDP/Green/BQ supported firearm bill C21 which laid the groundwork to ban at least half of the firearms in Canada immediately and then the rest through the use of the term "variant".

Included in the immediate bans were Weatherby Mk V, Christenson Arms, Ruger No 1, Brazilian Mauser, Mauser sporter and the list went on for 378 pages.

This was an amendment to a bill that has essentially banned all handguns and most semi auto center fire rifles.

We - hopefully we anyways - but a bunch of us Canadians through our gun rights groups mounted a letter writing, social media and public information campaign that might have made them blink - for now.

They want no firearms in the hands of any of us.

We'll see.

I'm cognizant that's not an answer, but that's where we're at as of today.

All the best regardless of the interesting times we find ourselves in.

Morning to you, I hope that your section of Iowa is getting the winter you needed and you're well.

For sure we should all inform ourselves as to what's going on around us using the best sources possible, then make wise decisions and act accordingly.

If that's where you're at, then I can respect your decision.

Are you aware of Operation Yellow Ribbon by the way?

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Operation_Yellow_Ribbon

If that is new to you, perhaps watch a couple short videos on how Gander, NFld housed thousands of people, mostly US folks and all bound for the US.

Once you're read up on that, investigate how the reports of 911 terrorists coming into the US were pure unmitigated BS strewn about by your legacy media.

When the US decided to head into Afghanistan after 911, we were asked to send combat troops and we did and they died along side and sometimes saving US combat personnel. There was a US Afghanistan vet who stated here on the 'Fire he and his group were alive because of the efforts of the Princess Patricia's group out of Edmonton.

After that - should you be so inclined - you might be interested to learn how the US trade policies under Obama affected US trade with the US's largest trading partner.

Again, I could type quite a bit, but far be it from me to attempt to change someone's mind who has already made it up, you know?

Best to you regardless of which side of the medicine line you choose to stay.

Dwayne

Well, that explains that......., sort of. Actually not, but you be you. Full disclosure: My Canadian friends are some of my best. I'm sure they'll be crushed that you'll not be joining them this year.

Anything we can say about Canada , can be said for the USA. As for me, I thought Canada was great . We went there on our Honeymoon in 1987 to Sault Ste Marie , Canada , just above Michigan . It was such a nice town and even asked a waiter if a lot of Americans come here to live. She looked at me funny and said not at all. Fast forward to 2019 we went back. The place was not the same town. Gang signs, garbage and a much lower class of residence lived there on average. I can say that about so many small towns in America. They were nice though.. Kind of sad there is friction between the countries. I would go back,, but I could not for a few yrs. cause I am not vaccinated. USA still mandates the Vax. I got used to just going to Upper Michigan and happy to fish there. Still might go back to Canada though too. Our leadership is terrible on both sides of the border. I think we can all agree on that.

After 30+ years of working and traveling in virtually every populated province in Canada as well as most US states I have come to the conclusion that there is not a hell of a lot of difference between them. In general, I have found Canadians to be honest, generous and straightforward ... as are Americans. If anything, Canadians do seem to carry themselves with a bit more dignity than the average poster on the Campfire

There are exceptions but they are generally easily recognized and avoided. Most of us Americans have already developed and honed that skill locally.

I have noticed Canadians share with their southern neighbors a trait of reflecting back a pissy attitude when confronted with it. Treat people with dignity and you will receive the same. Is it possible the source of your problems with Canadians can be seen in a mirror?

Travelled in the states enough to know that there is not much of a difference between our culters, excluding Queerbec of course.

I have been eating KFC and watching NFL since I was 9 years old, as American and as Apple Pie as you can get lol

I have hunted in BC, Alberta and Saskatchewan. All beautiful country. Plus, my wife and I went on a week-long fishing trip East of Vancouver for our honeymoon. I have found Western Canadians to be some of the nicest people I have ever met.
Plus, we seemed in agreement on everything. I had to smile when I saw Queerbec in Killer Bee's post. Yep, I heard that a few times up there. :-)

My wife and I have been watching the TV series "Heartland" lately. I knew after the first episode this had to be Alberta. Just a couple nights ago, I was explaining to her that Western Canadians are much like us and not fond of Queerbec. LOL

Good morning to you sir - well it's still morning here in south central BC - I hope all is well as can be with you, all things considered in our respective and collective sections of the world.

Thanks for the reply that you and the other folks have taken the time to add, I appreciate it.

To any of the US 'Fire folks reading who've not come up onto our side of the medicine line, way WAY back in the day we started a bit of an "information package" of sorts for visiting hunters but it's got information for any travelers truly.

https://www.24hourcampfire.com/ubbt...60/planning-a-hunt-in-canada#Post6042560

If any of you reading are heading into our part of the world that is up Highway 97 and you have specific questions about well whatever you think a local might be able to assist with, please feel free to PM me. I'll do my best to either answer or find somewhere an answer exists - if possible.

Some questions like - is "this" firearm now banned are tougher because of the situation we find ourselves in politically. We're working on it folks, honest we are, but it's sort of like asking what the gas and diesel fuel prices might be this summer - who know right?

That said, the gasbuddy.com website works for most places up here, unlike your cell phone which might not in the mountains! wink

Anyways, if I can help I will be glad to.

All the best to one and all on both sides of the medicine line.

Dwayne

North Montanans are good folks in my book. Their government is a bit kooky, mostly run by back east loons.

Kinda similar to ours.
