What is it about?
I've read a number of Hunter's novels. He's an accomplished and interesting author.

It is a stand-alone offering, in that one could read or listen to the book, and other than being familiar with Hunter's prose not suffer from not having read any of his previous novels. This review may be a bit "over the top' but not far off. https://townhall.com/columnists/joh...test-thriller-the-bullet-garden-n2618652ya! GWB

Just ordered it through my local library today. I'm looking forward to it! Hope you enjoy it Geedubya. I did. Having read most all the Hunter novels, unlike James Lee Burke, one does not "wallow" in his prose, but rather its like slipping into a comfortable pair of broke-in boots. Other Hunter novels one might read/listen on audio are: Sniper's Honor G'Man, These could be read without not having read the Bob Lee series in order. IIRC all of the Bob Lee series can be obtained in the unabridged audio versions, except Point Of Impact, the first Bob "The Nailer" series. The movie "Shooter" was loosely based on this novel, but is not in the same league as the novel. The abridged version on audio does not do justice to the intricacies and nuances of the plot. If you care, read Point of Impact, then Book 3, A Time to Hunt, which ties things left undone from Book 1. ( A spoiler: "It's not about you") Book 2 is Black Light and can be read after books 1 & 3. Dirty White Boys can be enjoyed at another time. Best, GWB

After reading about it here, I read the book. Decent, mindless way to pass the time. The typical Hunter gun lore and chain of events were even more preposterous than his past works. Wove in a diverse bunch of historical characters, and there were enough surprise twists to keep it interesting.
Stupidity has its way, while its cousin, evil, runs rampant.

Kinda like "Pale Horse Coming" ya! GWB

Just finished it. The historical characters he put into were a stretch but get your attention. I think most if not all of them were still around at that time. Enjoyed it, he knows his stuff better than most on guns, looks like he did considerable research on the time and place and knows how to tell a story.

Finished Dead Zero and Soft Target. Bullet Garden would be next, but it is on kindle hold. Probably read Hot Springs next.
