That's not done through a legislative process? They just go "we're making this a law" without it circulating through different bodies of elected officials prior to being signed off on?

I'm sure someone will correct me if I am in error, but the way I understand it, the possession and use of firearms in Canada and Australia is a permission granted by the govt to the people. That permission can be revoked at the will of govt. In our constitution, it is an enumerated right and cannot be revoked without changing the constitution. ie...the 2A repealed or amended.
