I'm sure someone will correct me if I am in error, but the way I understand it, the possession and use of firearms in Canada and Australia is a permission granted by the govt to the people. That permission can be revoked at the will of govt. In our constitution, it is an enumerated right and cannot be revoked without changing the constitution. ie...the 2A repealed or amended.

So, it seems the state is worried it's gestapo is going to be targeted by precision high yield rifle cartridges. They must be planning some significant social changes coming up soon. I'd call this action they're taking a canary on a coal mine.
