Merry Christmas everyone!

Hey guys, just checking in.
Picked up a new to me pike spear, decoy and ice saw to see if I can spear me a northern. The shack I got is a 6 man thunderbay from Amazon. This thing is huge!
Anyway gonna give it a go here in a week or two. Never done it before but always wanted to. I'm hoping to upgrade my decoy next year if I really like it, I suspect I will.

What does that decoy look like? Pretty much anything smaller than a pike? 😁

I got the bear creek one in ice shad color from Cabela's Gonna upgrade to a premium one that looks like a crappie next year I think

It's sort of terrifying that whatever is 8" long and idle is basically dinner in the local water bodies. Top of most food chains looks pretty good from here 🙂

Joe & I went again Saturday, before the deep freeze moved in.

Way slower, 20 took us 4 hours + 2 bonus perch & 1 walleye.

Oh, I did manage to stick a northern with a spear. Holy buckets is that fun and addicting. I'm going full bore into spearing here, it's awesome! Found out I need more decoys so I'm gonna try to make some this next year. I think I'm gonna pick up another spear or two as well. I need to get an auger, gonna get one of them electric drill setups I think. I can't post pics but I sent them to a few guys here

We've been running a dewalt, brushless, 20 volt drill & an eskimo 8" plastic/aluminum auger, which weighs about 3lbs.

Love it, too !

I grew up spearing in the winter. My cousin and I started so young that our Dad's had to tie us to the wall inside the spear house so we wouldn't fall in. I haven't speared a lot in the last few years but last Friday, I spent the day in a buddies shack and some other buds came out and we took turns. The pike were cooperating well that day. Will make some fine pickled fish!

We got 12 walleye (3 person limit) on Saturday;
