I tried shooting the 40 S&W ammo in my 10mm XDM-ELITE today. Fired and functioned as it should. The 40 S&W 180 Remington factory load at an advertised 990 FPS shot a bit high at 20 yards.
I will chronograph this ammo tomorrow to check the velocity

I have run several mags of .40 S&W though my Glock 20 without a hiccup. Not for any particular reason, just to see if it would work.

Do it all the time…in my 610 Classic.
Never felt the need to fire it in a 10mm auto pistol, since I have pistols in both. Would be interested in the numbers you post though. 😎

It's nice to be able to do in a pinch but it's not something you'd want to do over hundreds of rounds. It's putting a lot of extra strain on the extractor using it to maintain headspace.
Falls into the category of can but probably shouldn't.

I chronographed 1 round of 40 S&W 180 grain jacketed flat point and recorded 983.6 FPS ![[Linked Image from i.postimg.cc]](https://i.postimg.cc/Ls5dHtxh/20230307-084409.jpg)

I'm not sure if anyone makes a conversion barrel for the XDM Elite but when I use a 10mm to 40 S&W conversion barrel in a G20. Nice to have the cheaper ammo option.

Have shot tons of 40 through a Delta, Camp Guard, Glock 20 and 40. How does it affect the extractor? The case, just like a 10 case stays at the slide until impacted by the ejector? Even if your shooting 10 mm reloads, using a taper crimp the round is not necessarily chambering at the case mouth.

I will chronograph this ammo tomorrow to check the velocity It works with my Glock 20, also. However, even though that's the case, I purchased a .40 S&W barrel for it, anyway. Using the 10mm barrel to fire .40 S&W may apply excess stress on the extractor.

Have recently got a GP Match Champion. Will be putting a few 40s in moon clips for fun. Just because.

The difference would be that when the slide slams forward to a stop, the extractor has to stop the inertia of the loaded round. One might logically expect that to accelerate wear on the extractor, but I don't know if it's that big a deal. As for the above clame of the 10mm rounds not necessarily chambering on the case mouth..... all of my reloads will do exactly that. It's easy to ensure. I don't and won't use the 40 in anything unless I have to, so I'm not testing it. Edit: Good Lord. "Clame"? Sheesh - claim. How the heck did that happen?

I only dropped test match rounds for auto in IPSC, stopped doing that after shooting 200,000 rds
