The supply of Kimber mountain ascents has dried up. Are they even producing them? While many companies are now in full production mode, I don't see many of the new Kimber Mountain Ascents for sale. Just posting this up because I live on the far side of the world and we hardly hear about any new developments.

Looks like Kimber rifles overall have dried up based on my every few months search on the standard sale sites, compared to 4 or 5 years ago.
I think Kimber has realized there is a lot more demand for all the variations of pistols they have than for their rifles, so that is where their production is focused.

It's probably interesting to know if the same machines make both - that is if I run machine A for a rifle, does that mean I missed out on making 2 1911s? Dunno. Is it really capacity or is it basically just margin/want to.

Not sure if it is related but recently I've noticed a few manufacturers post they are giving preference to Oregon and Washington purchase orders in order to meet the demands of people trying to acquire firearms that may soon be banned.

I've heard that Kimber is gearing up to produce their rifle line for the new PRC cartridges but I have no idea of the validity of that comment.
But I do know the MSRP changed upward a couple times lately.
I grabbed the last two at LGS for my nephews.

A Kimber employee (injection mold specialist) is in my fishing club down the road. When I asked him about the Kimber Montana he said they had 2 130K pistol contracts for foreign governments, they moved to Alabama and all the workers told them they weren't going. They just leased 3 additional buildings in New Jersey and it wasn't enough. They also couldn't get enough skilled workers. This conversation took place last spring.

I called Kimber to about a year ago to specificity ask when the Montana would be back in production. The customer service woman refused to even acknowledge that they were not producing them. She insisted that they were being made and to keep checking retailers for them. lol
