Had an oil leak on one of the 4wheelers. 1995 Yamaha Timber wolf 250 4x4.
So after doing my research I decided to jump into this and although keeping my atv's in pretty clean Condition, it can't be helped much when an oil leak developed and I got it located at the Transfer Case Gasket. So I picked up some Stop Leak oil Additive, (which I never use and am against quick fix schemes), and put a little in a cap and with a q-tip rubbed it around the gasket after cleaning, and then drained the transfer case, and removed the 4 bolts and did the same thing again with the q-tip. Re applied the 4 bolts to the proper torque setting, and filled the unit with the proper motor oil which lubricates the Transfer case and so far no leaks on the fresh white paper under neath. Did some other inspection's as I was working on it and made notes for my Yamaha Timber wolf Folder with Dates,(can't remember Stuff), and after a week now it's looking pretty promising as the ATR-205 stop leak RE Seal is designed to swell seals and gaskets, So why not try it from the outside and let it suck into the Gasket and swell up and re tighten the Bolts!!!
Like I said I'm old school and don't believe in too many mechanic in a can solutions as my biggest fear is the stuff is like water and what does it do to liquidating the oil and reducing the oil's cooling and Lubrication aspects? Don't know and I didn't want to take a chance.
