Buddy called and asked if I would be interested in a BPCR in 45/70. It has been drilled and tapped for a Malcom scope. No scope included. None of the extra sight parts are included.
What are these selling for?
How good of guns are they?
I owned this gun many years ago but never shot it…
He hasn’t given me a price yet.

Those are pretty good rifles. They benefit from a trigger job done by a gunsmith as opposed to a gun parts changer with a set of needle files.
Most of the used ones I've seen are in serious need of a good lead mining job to get it back to it's accuracy potential.
The iron sights missing isn't a big issue, 3/8 dovetail front globes readily available from MVA , Baldwin and Kelley. Tang sights from MVA, Baldwin, Hoke and Kelley
If the holes drilled for the malcolm scope are on 7.2 in centers the DZ scope will work fine and the MVA B5 altho the B5 will be limited to around 600 yards due to the rear base height. If it's 10.75 or longer then you're only option will be the corresponding MVA scope.
Prices for those run all over the place, so basically it's worth what ever you and the seller can come up with.

That’s a good price best jump on that while he’s in the mood to sell it

That's a great price! I have one just like it and that that amount of monies wouldn't start the conversation.

Great rifles. Mines in my will to be passed on when I pass on. I wouldn't sell it for anything. That said, to buy one for $1,500.00 you'd be a fool to let it get by you. Just my 2 cents worth.

$1500 is a steal if it’s in good shape. The original sights are great to have too. I purchased the 45-70 version a while back and it had no front sight inserts so I started looking around. Found an unopened back of front sight inserts on eBay for around $35. They’re out there

The inserts aren't available from Browning, but there was a vendor who had a few of the original cards. However, the Browning front globe takes Lyman 17 size inserts that are available from several vendors. Brownell's or Buffalo Arms have them.

I found original Browning inserts for less than $20 a card.
Will order some this week.

What is one of these worth that is either unfired or as new in the box. Vernier tang sight is still in the separate box it shipped in.
