Ok folks I have a question?
I'm have a 22 tcm rifle. All I have is small pistol Magnum primers. Has anyone used them? All I see used is small pistol primers. Thanks for any help!

I have a very new Western powders reloading manual and it actually has some data for TCM in it I will look in a bit and see what kind of primers they used..

CCI 500s are the primers they used their data is in the pistol section also. based on a 5-in barrel.
I can put pictures up of their data when I get a place that I have enough phone signal. or if you send me a PM with your text number I can text pictures to you if you need them.

The Hodgdon online data (maybe the same as Western) uses 500s as well. The pressures are in the 30k range, unlike the 5.7x28 which is in the high 40s, but also uses pistol primers, WSPs in this case.

Soldier on with you magnums IMO, but start at the start and work up (like we all should). If you have a chronograph, stop when you get to the top velocity in the data, or the top charge, whichever comes first.

I think people worry way too much about mag vs no mag primers. Reduce it 10% if it concerns you and run it over a chrony. If it doesn't shoot well try a different primer. I run cci250s in 90% of my large primer loads. Even my 22-250 benchmark and 40g nbts run cci 250s. Occasionally I find a load that does better with a standard 400 or 200 but most of the time I do great with nato 41s or 250s. If anything in my 28 nos or ultramags I'll go fed 215s or win mag lrs for extra heat. Other than that it's generally cci 41s or 250s. Occasionally a 400 brings things together better in a 6 arc or 223.

In pistols I'll always give a mag primer first option. People really worry if the recipe calls for a standard but I'll always choose a mag pistol primers first. Maybe because I'm not a good enough shot with a pistol to tell the difference so I I'll lean towards effective ignition every time.
