Came across one the other day, single shot, ex-youth league gun. With some light finish wear but not bad.
Bore looks good, has replacement peeps (now Redfields). Not much else to see.

I don't know how they shoot or what they are worth, hoping someone here can tell me.

Thanks all!

The ones I have shot all shot very good - I did not get a chance to vary ammo but they shot CCI Standard more than acceptable so I’m guessing if various .22 ammo was tested you’d find some really good shooting stuff. Trigger was OK and could probably be tuned? Limited experience but would not shy away from one based on what I experienced - price being “right” of course.

Had one a really long time ago. Remember the trigger being the limiting factor but we’ll made good shooting rifles overall.

I’ve missed snagging one several times and have always been bummer about it. For what they are, I hear they’re actually very nice and accurate rifles once you get the trigger sorted!

Very well made rifle and as has been said the trigger is the limiting factor. If you feel the price is right I would jump on it . They are remarkable shooters.

Marlin 2000 rifles had semi-match chambers, and could produce excellent accuracy with decent ammo. When they were discontinued, Marlin used the left over heavy barrels on their 880 Squirrel guns ("880 SQ"), and they too were very accurate.

I have a heavy barrel Marlin 880SQ, and it is indeed very accurate (ragged hole at 25 yards, and well under sub 1/2 inch at 50 yards).

The trigger, from the factory can be heavy ( >4-5 lbs), but it is a simple task to get a very crisp (and safe) 2.5 lb trigger pull with a DIY trigger job (proper stoning of the sear, and reducing the depth of the "cocking notch", and tweaking the trigger spring (or replacing the factory spring with ball point pen spring as per internet videos).

The Marlin 2000 ( and 880 SQ) can be surprisingly accurate.
