Finally, I have located the burial place of Enoch Tue. That's the good news.
Though his plot is marked exactly there is no head stone marker. That's the bad news.

In conversation with the Sexton of the cemetery she said unmarked plots are quite common. Many times families didn't have funds, or were going to deal with it later and never did.
I inquired if it would be possible to place a simple marker at this time. She answered yes and provided contact information of some stone dealers in her area that are familiar with the cemetery.
At this point I have not investigated related costs, but seems a simple marker may be fabricated and placed for $1000-1500 guessing.

Non-binding survey:
If I was spearhead this process of quoting etc. and start a go-fund-me page, how many of you would be interested in contributing small amounts of money to this worthy cause?
10 donations of $100 will about get the job done. Or other combinations of lesser amounts would do it as well.
Reply to this thread or PM your intentions would be most helpful.

The marker will be recorded as placed by Tue family & Members of the Savage Collectors of the 24hour campfire.
This is a draft example of what the marker could be.

I'd contribute. Out of curiosity, where is the grave located? I don't need to know exactly what cemetery, just general town/city would be fun to know. Seems odd that info wasn't included in your post.

Enoch was buried at one of the cemeteries in Utica, NY in 1927.
His wife, Mary Theresa was buried in her families plot in Buffalo, NY in ~1933.
The circumstance around all this are unknown. But after Enoch death it appears his wife returned to her hometown in Buffalo where her family resided.
Evidently, funds where not available to mark Enoch plot, but who knows?
btw - Mary Theresa's plot IS marked.

Interesting, thank you.

Anyone know if doing this type of work would have been lucrative back then? I'm sure it wouldn't have made anyone rich but it seems like it would have provided a comfortable living.

Maybe it was by design?

My Mom had specifically requested her grave be unmarked long before she died.

Doubtful.
The Sexton is reviewing cemetery records if any for this burial and will report back.

It could be.
William Gough worked at Parker, Colt, Fox and commissions during the same time period and beyond. He was known a good businessman and lived comfortably with a large family.
I would guess Enoch was a "starving artist" who lived month to month. Records show many different addresses over the years most near Savage plant. Many addresses seems to indicate rentals vs. home ownership.

I've gotten a good response here from the Savage Collector forum and the Tue's in the U.K. feel that "no grave should go unmarked" and are on board too.

So I will advance to the next step(s) and get into the details, quotes, timeline, costs and report back soon.

Thank you for your interest in this deed to provide a headstone for Enoch Tue, master engraver, Savage Arms Co.

Thank you to All for your generosity.

Enoch Tue lies in an unmarked grave at Forest Hill Cemetery in Utica since 1927.
He has been there in obscurity and unrecognized for 96 years,...until now!

I’ll be up in the Utica area in early June and mid-August and can visit the grave and get pics of the head stone if it’s in place by then.

Some additional info regarding the "other Tue's" in America during Enoch's time.
This info is some of what appears during research that may be interesting.

Enoch's wife Mary Theresa (Langmeyer) Tue returned to Buffalo after Enoch's death in 1927. The place where her family resided and where she met and married Enoch. She is buried there in the family plot.

Enoch's brother James who was with Enoch in Buffalo, later Remington in Illion, Savage in Utica and finally the armory in Rock Island died in Rock Island and is buried there.

James wife Jennie (Cowan) returned to Utica after James death and died shortly thereafter. Coincidently, she too is buried at Forest Hill where Enoch lies, also without a stone marker.

Enoch's nephew William Henry Tue who joined Enoch at Savage ~1909, remained at Savage ~10 years and relocated to CA in ~1940 is buried there.

Can you tell what the seal is on the upper part of James' marker?

Don't see four names on a stone to often or at least not around here.
