Isn't someone importing Mausers from whatever Yugoslavia is called now? EAA was the importer a few years back.

I agree they probably aren't worth much. That said, I would try shooting it. I've owned a few of the Higgins M98's and they were very accurate with the factory barrels. You might be about to spend a lot of money re-barreling a rifle that doesn't need it.

Here is one I did years ago. A .30-06 Higgins I bought for $350. I had big plans for it and then I shot it. I got honest MOA groups out of it with Remington factory ammo. The bluing was a little freckled but otherwise in good shape. I took the sights off, Cerakoted the metal, added a Timney trigger and dropped it in a McMillan stock. It's accurate and the balance is fantastic. I own a few custom rifles but always seem to grab this one.

I think the most I ever paid for a J.C. Higgins M50 was $350 The cheapest was free. It was in 30-06 and had a nice custom stock. I took a bad fall and I had the choice of saving my fat ass or the rifle. Saving the rifle meant that I would either be dead or crippled for life. The scope on the rifle was totaled as well. The rifle now sits i a Ramline stock and it's used as a bad weather gun.

Another m50 had been made into a 7x57 custom and I have three more. Just need to figure out what to rebarrel them to. All my customs are based on Mauser actions except for two.

Our forefathers did not politely protest the British. They did not vote them out of office, nor did they impeach the king, march on the capitol or ask permission for their rights. ----------------They just shot them.
