I know that alot of people have had trouble finding 16 gauge ammo. I recently found my first 16 gauge and did not really have any. A couple of weeks ago I was in Scheels and found 16 gauge, 6 shot for pheasant priced 50% off. I think it was $13.99 a box, which is about the price of trap loads anymore. Last week, I ordered 6 boxes of 6 shot and 4 boxes of 4 shot (4 shot was $17.99 a box) so that I would have a case available. Just an FYI if you are looking for 16 gauge ammo.

Thanks,
I'll have my grandson check the Sparks NV store. He cruises it about twice a week and bought me a box of Weatherby ammo there yesterday.

I bought a few boxes from Cabelas a couple of weeks ago. It varied from $14.99 to $19.99 depending on what load. It was Herters brand. Rick

I don't understand the supposed "issue" of ammo availability for 16ga. I can go to six stores in my relatively small town and find what I want any day of the week, year around. Walmart always has it, our sporting goods stores all have it. I have never ever had trouble finding it except during times when you couldn't find any ammo of any kind.

Walmarts out west haven't carried any for about three years, and the big box stores like Scheel's, Cabela's and Sportsman's seldom if ever have any. The selection online is poor, and there's no 2 1/2"/65mm or 67mm ammo. 20 gauge ammo has been absent from shelves for a year here.
Both are just starting to show up again now the bird seasons are over and we don't need the ammo until fall. The selections are terrible.

There is still a pretty limited supply of ammo for rare calibers here. I can find most things... but cant find any .284 win. Cant find any 410 that isnt defense rounds. Maybe South Dakota gets some priority due to the pheasant hunting. Not much shotgun stuff goes on in NE Wyoming. To my knowledge, there isnt any 16 gauge on the shelf here right now either, so finding it for 50% in Rapid City was surprising to me, and I bought a few boxes. Ordered a case when I got home.

I don't know if we do or don't have some kind of priority but it is what it is. I don't buy shotgun shells a box at a time, so there's that also. I'm a case at a time kind of guy. And there's plenty of 16ga at Runnings and DakotaMart and Walmart and the local shops just like there's 12ga and 20ga and everything else.
