You came to me over fifteen years ago as a little brown furball and we spent the next several years getting to know each other.
You seemed to have a penchant for chewing garden hoses and whatever else you could find into pieces and killing any cat that was stupid enough to run from you.
Your training phase was always fun for both of us and you loved that dummy
[Linked Image from i.imgur.com]

Actually The training was easy and you learned the lessons very well
[Linked Image from i.imgur.com]
You even learned how to do the stupid things that I asked
[Linked Image from i.imgur.com]

Your training paid off many times and I will always remember the many miles of stomping through the brush with excellent results many many times.

Sometimes I think you were as proud of yourself as I was of having you as my teammate

At the end of the day the restful times were well deserved and enjoyed by both of us

So now it's time to cross that Rainbow bridge that all good dogs must do eventually.
I don't think so, you're going to swim that damn river!
[Linked Image from i.imgur.com]

So when you get to that other side, You'll have a good time! You'll get to have your own king sized Seally Posturpedic bed all to yourself and you won't have to listen to anyone calling you a "bed hog" (whatever that is)
[Linked Image from i.imgur.com]
You will have a chance to make lots of new friends
[Linked Image from i.imgur.com]
And say hello to those that have gone on before
[Linked Image from i.imgur.com]

After all these years together, the one thing I am most grateful for is that you finally grew into those ears
[Linked Image from i.imgur.com]

So rest in peace my friend.
You were loved and you will not be forgotten

That's a wonderful tribute to such a loyal companion and friend. The connection between man and dog is something that nearly defies description. He'll be waiting for you. I feel this, mine is about to cross over as well.

Cheers.

Oly was lucky to have such a good buddy and caretaker. Peace to you and cherish those memories!

Sounds like the owner and the dog both hit the jackpot there. Can't ask for more than that.......

Great tribute. Sorry for you loss.

It's never easy loosing a dog. October of 2022 and February of 2023 I lost both of my buddies. I questioned getting another dog. I know they never last long enough and their loss hits me terribly hard. I couldn't take it and I'm laying in bed with my 10 week old lab right now. I believe my buddies that crossed the rainbow bridge sent him to me as he's a perfect mix of both of them.

Thanks guys for all the kind comments. He was a special dog who was a gift from my wife for my 50th birthday. She called the breeder and told him that she wanted the biggest pup in the litter. All I had to do was to go get him from Idaho.
Didn't have a mean bone in his body, loved every human, and never started a fight but was very capable of finishing one.

Now that he's gone I find myself missing him when I think about it.

So I try not to think about it.

Beautiful tribute to a wonderful companion. The only downside to having dogs is that their lifespans don’t match our own, but in the time they have we endeavor to give them as much as they give us.

Good boy, Oly.
