I bought a Traditions #11 nipple wrench for my Pedersoli Hawken Target and it does not fit. I shot the rifle for the first time yesterday and when I was cleaning it afterwards it seemed that the wrench was too short. Has anyone else encountered this problem with Pedersoli rifles? I am not sure which wrench I should buy instead.

I have a Pedersoli full stock Frontier/ Blue Ridge rifle that has a nipple with larger flats (?) than my other rifles. I'm thinking that I use a T/C wrench /wedge puller doo dad for that one. I have several different makes of wrenches. I always put the smallest trace of choke tube lube or anti seize on each nipple before it gets reinstalled I don't wrench it down hard. There are some that use a small piece of teflon plumbing tape for the same purpose. Either way, you don't want it to get jammed in so hard that you can't get it out with pliers if you have to. Just snug when installing. Good Luck

Maybe look in Track of the Wolf, Dixie Gunworks, or any of the other muzzleloader supply stores for an appropriate nipple wrench. I agree with a little anti-seize on the threads and yes, nipples don't need 100 ft. lbs of torque! Very nice rifle you have!

Ran into exactly the same issue. Pedersoli #11 nipples are 1/4" - bigger than Traditions #11 nipples. So the Traditions wrench won't fit. Good part is, you don't need a "Nipple Wrench" for Pedersoli rifle #11 nipples. A 1/4" open ended wrench work perfectly well. As stated, don't over tighten, and a little biut of anti-sieze lube will help.

I used I believe it was 4.5 mm socket quarter inch drive and made a nipple wrench. by grinding out opposing sides of the socket.
