Got a few Rust spots on a lever. Recommendations for a cold blue to fix up small area.

I'm currently using Brownell's Oxpho blue either the liquid or the creme. I also have some Birchwood Casey Super blue which also works well. Clean the metal with acetone to remove all contaminants, warm with a hair dryer and apply the blue. Several applications may be necessary to get a dark enough blue, rinse under hot running water and apply oil (I use Birchwood Casey Barricade which is an excellent rust preventive) to prevent after rust. Do not at any time in the process touch the metal with your hands.

Oxpho blue. Birchwood Casey sucks as does 44/40.

I was using 44/40 for a while and tried the Oxpho Blue on the recommendation of several here and I'm sticking with the Oxpho... really does a good job and is quick and easy...

Another heat and oxpho here.

Oxpho is hard to get up here, as it is haz-mat - can't fly it.

Minty-mouth wash color. Pretty.

I’ve heard blue wonder is excellent - but I have not tried it myself.

I’ve been using Birchwood Casey Super Blue for a while to touch up places. I need to try Brownells product. I normally heat the part with boiling water and apply the blue with a qtip and it’ll take multiple tries to get decent results with me cleaning with fine steel wool between applications.

Cold blue works well if you warm up the part, and rub it in with 000 steel wool. Keep working it in until you reach your desired "darkness". I use 44-40 and Oxpho.

I never know which the steel will like better, Oxpho or RG96.

Dicropan T4 is darker, but less durable.

Sometimes I do T4, rub it off the ridges, but still in the grooves, and then do Oxpho or RG96.
