For the boat savvy guys on here...We've started looking around at used boats to go out and fish the many small lakes in our area and see a whole range of asking prices for what we're wanting to pick up. Is there any kind of site we could look at that gives values on used boats like there is for autos...like Kelly's or NADA?

The question isn't who is going to let me; it's who is going to stop me.

Where real estate is location, location. Boats are condition, condition. Make model horsepower hours and condition. You have to compare like boats in those categories.

Area specific Craigslist gives a pretty good idea on price, boat motors and boats have taken a huge increase in price since and during covid. Spring of the year prices are high, deals occur early fall, or when people are leaving Alaska. I used to buy outboards and boats late fall and sell them in the spring.

Boat prices have gone through the roof, I live in FL and they are everywhere. A good quality saltwater fishing boat, say 23" which is not very big, will set you back around $80-100k. I just sold my 21 footer, bought it used, used it for ten years, sold it for price I paid ten years ago. Could not imaging buying one today!

Have to agree! I would not feel comfortable on salt with a 23 inch boat!

It will plane if you put enough horsepower on it.

Maybe.

My wife and I were in Naples, FL two weeks ago visiting family. My wife really wants to leave AK for warmer weather. We were next to a boat dealership so I went in and looked around. The wife told me I’ll buy you this boat if you move me here. I said where are you getting $244K at? She replied it’s only $24K, I told her to look again.

Back in the 70s until the mid 80's I would buy around a half dozen boats and trailer usually under 26' in the fall....do a little work on them during the winter and make money in the spring....can't do that any more boats depreciate not as bad as a car or truck but its a lot.....
Problem was in the mid to late 80's lending institutions came out with 6-10 boat loans now you can get 20 year loans with very little down payment even some 0% down.....

I had a guy that tried to scam me out of my boat up here. I had to leave it at the hatchery for a bit and some dickweed had the great idea that he would claim that it was abandoned. I informed him that it was abandoned and then he tried asking me what I would sell it for. I told him what I wanted and he came back with 1/3 of what I told him. I gave him a piece of my mind and told him that he wasn't going to scam me out of my own boat and he could go pound sand

In WIsconsin, boats are not selling as fast as the last few years. Many are dropping their price. I have my eye on one but it's in Minnesota. It's a 1999 V1800 Lund with a 90 Merc on it. They wanted $10,000 then down to $9500 . Still not selling but I think it should go down more . it is 24 yrs. old , even if it is a Lund. I wont pay more for a LUnd, just cause it's a LUnd.PFFt.
