I love looking at Savages.

Arthur did something very special. It only gets better when you carry them in the woods.

Sharp looking gun!

I've found a number of guns from 1941 and 1942 that are very high grade. Always makes me wonder if the original owner never got a chance to hunt it, or didn't want to hunt when they came home.

The rifles put together during WWII were assembled when Savage got caught up with war material production. My theory is that the workers weren't in a hurry putting them together like they would be during high volume civilian production. The rifles produced during the worst of the 1930's recession also show better fit and finish. There was plenty of time to do them right

Could be. I think a lot of deer rifles, like fly rods, got bought with good intentions but everything else in life just got in the way.

Ratz, I think I deleted them from my cell. They are still on my IMGUR, I thought they were safe. I figured it out. I uploaded them straight to Imgur and never put them in my gallery. Must have deleted them from Imgur. Here they are again.

Your EG is very similar to my 1952 99. The Marbles fold down sight is identical. They are a good sight in combination
with the Lyman aperture. I rescued my 99 from inactivity. That will change...

Wow! What a find.

However, is that a toilet plunger stabilizing your treasure? The wood is not figured, can't tell about the LOP (length of plunge) and the 99 definitely outclasses the prop.

Congrats and thanks for reposting the photos.

Those pre war rifles had AMAZING case colors, especially the R's, G's and EG's.

That checkering is CRISPY.

Beautiful rifle.

A true treasure.
