picked up a 99E yesterday at the Lakeland show---it doesn't have the rear sight--Numrich only has the elevator--anyone know where to get the correct one?Lots on Ebay but which is right

We can identify it. Need a serial range. Does it have a dovetail or screw holes.

It has a "Sporting rear sight with elevator", basically a sheet metal stamped sight. Often removed, or the elevator removed because they get in the way of sights.

Here's a picture of one.. with the elevator removed.

Another option would be a folding leaf sight which came on the 99E/S (which was a 99E which had a Savage scope also in the box).

I'd go with the simple fold down sight. Savage used Lyman 16c sights on a lot of guns.

Unfortunately the link above to Cheaper than Dirt--the lyman 16 rear sight---isn't specified as to which model 16 it is.Turns out they sent me a 16A

sorry about that. Looks like they have dropped the B and C versions and just sell the A now.

Looking at the dimensions I suspect it will still work with the gun.
