Is the AB 190 gr LR best suited for the .300 win mag as opposed to the .30-06? Thinking Elk out to 400 yards max.
Why would I switch from the 168 TTSX in my .30-06?

There is no reason to switch. Your 06 is probably pushing that 168 at ~2825-2850, that means at even 450 yds your impact velocity is ~2030 well above that bullets minimimum impact velocity of 1600 fps.

Thanks for taking that bee out of my bonnet. I just needed to hear it! Handloading can be a curse.

Sakoluvr,
BTW, my go to hunting rifle is a Kimber 84m in 308 win with a 24" douglass bbl and my load of 45.4 grains of Varget produces 2775 fps. 450 yards is my self-imposed limit for elk and 400 yards is my self-imposed limit for deer and those distances require prone position, the use of a front rest, an improvised rear bag, and less than 5mph of wind. Those distances are dictated by the size of the vitals more than the impact velocity.
