I cant find definitively what the trim to length is for 9.3x57. I seen 2.215-2.224 mentioned in some post an searches.
Thanks

I trim my 9.3x57 cases at the same case length as the 8x57, at 2.230”. It works for both my Husqvarna model 46s. I also never hot rod these older lower pressure cartridges.

Dieter Sturm in the 1987 edition of Handloader #125 in an article called The Forgotten 9.3x57mm Mauser shows the correct cartridge dimensions. Like you I've found conflicting information, but this one got it right. The cartridge is 56.5mm long, or 2.224", thus trim to length is 2.214"

Thanks for the reply. My brass is new Norma 9.3x57 headstamp and it seems to be hovering around 2.215 and 2.220. I may just load it as is and skip the trim this first load. The gun is a husky 146 on FN 98 action. I am loading an upper end of range load but its only throwing a 270gr speer about 1900fps

Sounds like the brass you have is well inside specification. I wouldn't consider a 270gr Speer at 1900fps an upper end load.

My Husky 46A has fixed factory iron sights. Factory 286gr Norma loads printed about 3" low at 100 yds. Out came the Chronograph and sure enough muzzle velocity from the 23.5" barrel is 1900fps. The box says they're going 2067fps. BS! Took me three trips to the range to figure out the correct load for the sights. I'm now using 47.0grs of Varget, or 46.5grs of H4895 for 2023fps. Now I'm about 2"high at 100 yds. I believe the factory ammo was loaded with 43grs of some extruded powder, so velocity isn't high enough. The above data is now used with PRVI and Norma 286gr projectiles. It's very accurate. These are not high pressure loads

That's excellent info. I settled on 51gr of believe it or not IMR4350. I know its not ideal but I wanted to see what I could do to use up some of the rust dust powder from a metal can on something that I only use for occasional pigs or yote. I am ok with 1900fps. I will switch to 232 oryx and a faster powder at some point.
as a side note I probably would not push it that high if it was not a 98 action but no primer flattening at 51gr. Very minimal flattening as I went up to 52gr. It could be safely pushed further but I wont

My starting point was 9x3x62 load data for 4350 and reduced by about 22%. The case capacity difference of x57 and x62. That was around 47gr and it was very very slow. Worked up to 51 being the first of the loads that was hotter and didn't feel as mild. Accuracy with irons at 50 was probably 6" or less and well inside kill zone.

General rule of thumb for the 9.3x57mm Mauser is 44,000 cup, which is pretty low compared to current cartridges. It is not a SAAMI cartridge, so use it appropriately as seen fit. I needed something to work with my sights. The good quality steel in this Swedish mauser is more than up to the task of handling this load. I may have almost a full box through it.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/9.3%C3%9757mm_Mauser
case length according to Wilipedia is 2.22, I normally will trim .05" to .1" less than nominal length.
I prefer classic. Semper Fi I used to run with the hare. Now I'm envious of the tortoise and I do my own stunts but rarely intentionally

My Husky M146 with FN action was shooting 270 gr. Speers at 2400+ fps. using Rem. 8x57 brass and Imr 4064 powder with great accuracy. Max load as I couldn't fit any more powder in the case. Using the same load with 286 gr. PRVIs I was also getting 2400+ fps.
