I'm not that enthused with the trigger on my 17 and would like a smoother pull (lighter, too, if possible). Whose aftermarket unit would fit those parameters? As is, the current unit seems heavy and rather mushy compared to my other pistol's (also a 17). Thoughts?

Local gunsmith suggested a Timney Glock trigger. It's in a 3rd Gen Model 23 and I love it. I don't remember it costing this much though. Got it about a year ago. Maybe the price just went up?

Guys, have you heard of magical Glock Performance Trigger for Gen 5 Glocks? If your gun is not Gen 5 you are not keeping up with the times, when it comes to world of plastics newer is always better!

I have a G20 with a trigger you wouldn’t believe. It was a very simple job to do, IIRC it only involved springs, but I did it over 20 years ago and don’t remember. Mackey Sagebrush described what I think I did on another thread about Glock triggers a while back. If he sees this maybe he’ll weigh in and describe it.

So is this G17, is it for self defense or is it a range gun ?
What generation are these G17s that you are comparing?

I've changed a few out and have seen little if any improvement. Glock has a lot going for it, but light, crisp triggers aren't one of them.

Have a couple Apex that are decent for what they are, also have a Johnny Glock competition that is a little better but is way over priced and would never recommend anyone go that route!

Nothing wrong with a stock Glock trigger.

If you want a nice 2-3 lb crisp trigger, get a 1911.

I played with my Model 40 quite a bit. I settled on the .25 cent Glock trigger job, and a 3.5# disconnect.

AMEN. I replaced my Glock's trigger with another 1911 or two, or three...... I cannot abide the spongly, staplegun-esque trigger of a Glock, or that SIG 320 I played with yesterday, for that matter. I can even tolerate a BHP trigger better.

Yep. Be it Glock, S&W, Sig or whatever flavor of striker fired gun, it's all in what you get used to. Repetition and practice make the staple gun triggers more than just tolerable. If the gun is for range fun time, ect. you can play with triggers and if it breaks down or chokes then it's no big deal. If it is for serious use, the more you stray from the factory design the more likely you're gonna have trouble with it at some point.

The striker-fired guns are just different; not better or worse, just different. As MOGC says, it takes practice and repetition. Look at what’s been done with double action revolvers by people who actually apply themselves. Probably the only handgun discipline where the single action trigger really stands out is bullseye. For any of the practical shooting disciplines there are people running Glocks and other striker-fired guns who are consistently in the top tiers.

Like firstcoueswas80 I did the $.25 trigger jobs on two model 41’s. It’ll never come close to a 1911 trigger but for what they are, it’s about as good as you’ll get without spending a lot of money to get a small improvement.
