I'm not sure what it is called .. a screwdriver bit with a gap in the middle. The purpose is to separate the halves of a Ruger single action base pin .. latch from latch nut. I've always done this with pliers and a piece of soda can .. gotta be a better way. My searches are coming up empty probably because I'm not thinking of the right words. What's it called? And is there a specific maker, size, etc that ya'll recommend?

Thanks!

Tom

Brownells used to sell an insert for their MagnaTip screwdriver. Both for that as well as the extractor nut for Redhawk and Super Redhawk revolvers.

If they’re unavailable you can cut an appropriate sized U in the blade of a screwdriver with a cutting disk on a Dremel.

As TheKid said Brownells has the tool, expensive for what it is.

Or search for Drilled Spanner Bits and Screwdriver Security Bits, McMaster also has them w/ size chart.
