Whole gun is refinished. Bolt body should not be machined.

It’s in nice condition, but a few things just don’t seem right…
1.). I’ve never seen one with white inlay in the lettering.
2.) Hang tags look like reproductions.
3.) 270 WCF stamped barrel in 1953?

The stock is refinished for sure. Barrel was probably reblued because of rust pitting. Buyer beware on this one. His bold print does nothing but highlight he's an idiot.

Reminds me of a used car that has received the "dealer fluff and buff"

Where they not only spray paint the wheels, they also spray paint the carpet.. Not trying to deter the OP from buying it. If he can get it for a good deal, buy it. If not, move on. For a shooter, it wouldn't be a bad rifle. Hopefully the bore is in good condition.

I’m not trying to buy it. I just wanted to get the 24hr brain trust to validated that my spidy senses were correct.

I’m a M70 pre-64 FWT kind of guy anyway.

I like the fwt's too. That barrel should probably be stamped "270 win", not "WCF". By 1950, they pretty much made the change to the 270 win stamping. I'd be curious to see what the underside of the barrel is stamped. Should be stamped 270 and 53, also may say SUPER on it as well. Notice he's not posting pics of something as important as those stampings.

This is the 3rd attempt. Apparently somebody didn’t like what they found.

We might’ve even discussed it here the first go round.
The first buyer didn’t like what they found either.

The rifle is pretty humped up, astonished at the prices realized in two previous attempts to sell. Owner's description is pure fantasy !

My question would be why a “stunning” gun would have such a worn and used scope on it.

The buyer got it in hand and saw what we could see just in the pics. Probably had a buddy come to the shop with him that knew a thing or 2 about winchester model 70's. Some guys just need to have something in hand, to know what it is. Others not so much..

The safety shroud is round instead of milled flat. So, post 1959 shroud.
