Are the 28mm always the rimfire version or were normal rifle scopes also made in the 28mm? I'm looking at a Vari-X II.

They say everything happens for a reason.
For me that reason is usually because I've made some bad decisions that I need to pay for.

All I know is the older ones are 28mm. I have two.
One has been on a .338 Win. Mag. for 30 years, and still in zero.

I'm just wondering about the parallax setting honestly. I think they can be sent in to be adjusted if need be, but I'd rather not need to do that.

They are set for 150 yards, but you can send them in and Leupold will adjust for whatever you want. I am not sure if they charge for this service.

I thought they’ve suspended all custom work, and doubt they’re doing anything for free these days even if they’ll do it.

What fresh Hell is this?

If it's the rimfire version, the markings should indicate "Rimfire", "RF Special" or something similar. I believe the rimfire scope has parallax set at 60yds vs. 150yds for the standard model. A shame that they were discontinued, for there aren't many options remaining for compact scopes.

It’s easy to adjust the parallax yourself, just do a Google on the subject. Basically you are removing the ring on the objective that is in front of the gold ring. Once removed the lens can be turned via a couple of slots (I use a credit card) until it is focused at your chosen range. I use 2 strap wrenches - one to hold the scope and the other to remove the ring.
A 2.5-8 done this way sits on bth of my .22s.

Good luck

I need to do this with a VX-2 3-9. Makes sense.

You may be right. I have heard this before.

They used to charge to change parallax.
