For several years, I’ve used Leica binoculars and a Leica rangefinder. I’d like to combine the two. 8x is plenty where I hunt, so I'm not looking for more power. I’m looking at the various Geovids on CameralandNY and wondering what the fire has to say about them.

I’m a die-hard Leica fan but would consider other brands IF CameralandNY sells them. Budget is $3,000.

What do you think?

Thanks,

Okie John

I too am a die hard Leica fan when it comes to LRF. Started with the 1600 then 1600B. Moved to the Geovid HD-B's then a few years back the 3200.com's and late last Summer received my Geovid Pro's. I can't say enough good about them. I suppose for the glass experts who "just" glass any LRF in a bino reduces overall glassing experience but i'm no glass aficianodo. I can sit all day with the Pro's glued to my eyes and have zero issues. The ability of the Pro's to not only find a target, range it but to be able to dope it, elevation and wind, in a meer 1-2 seconds is phenomminal! It's the most intutive on any of the Geovid's i've run as well as quick to make changes in wind direction. The Pro's really shine when bluetoothed with a Kestrel 5700 Elite. Take a wind speed and direction. Let both go to sleep to save battery and when needed, simply hit the Kestrel power button and pocket it. Hit the Pro's power button and they instantly bluetooth. Locate and range the target and you have instant dope/wind hold no matter the compass direction you are lasing the target.

Not sure that I do. I rarely shoot beyond about 350 yards.

Be aware of the Leica pro delay in readout for range. I bought the 8X32 Geovid Pro and the wait for the range readout was unacceptable in my use for hunting. I sold them and kept my Swarovski EL range, which I was planning on selling because the 8X 32 Pro was smaller.

If the delay in the range readout is not a problem, I think you would like the Geovid Pro in 8X32…

Okie, if you don't need the ballistic info I would just get the new Geovid R's.

Have you looked at these?

I have the 10x50 version. They are clear, light weight and the RF is quick. They don't have the ballistic info that some people like and want. Other than that they are a great RF binocular.

These really are outstanding.

I’m probably going to buy these 32mm in either 8x or 10x. I’ve been using 8x42 Geovid HD-B I got from CLNY about 5 yrs ago, but would like to try something smaller. The new 32mm Geovid Pro is too expensive for me and I don’t need all the features.
Which power would you guys recommend?

The choice is really between 8x or 10x. The only difference I can see in the specifications is .4 oz with the 10x being the lightest. The size is the same for both and the other features are the same. I have not looked through either of them as they came out after I purchased my 10x50's. Hope this helps. Give Doug or Neal a call see what they can do for you.
