Picked up this Gem a few days back. Don’t see many of them floating around.

One area where snub nosed double action revolvers are superior to the subcompact plastic fantastics that have largely replaced them for concealed carry is that, in a close quarters confrontation, you can literally press them into the body of the attacker and blast away. An auto pistol can't do that. Even relatively incidental contact with the attacker's body can prevent a semiauto from firing.

As "much" as you guys shoot these revolvers I would think you would be all over Model 12s. Much more practical defensive revolver. The aluminum K-frame are actually more often encountered in sub-nose barrel variation vs duty length 4".

I come across Model 12s in used gun displays in gun shops and pawn shops all the time. They must have made a lot of them. They are usually nearly new looking, too.

A lot of people likely know that the grip frames on them (except for the very last of them they made) were not standard K-Frame grip frames, so you cannot just buy aftermarket grips for them and put them on. That's a turn off to a lot of people, other than collectors. Maybe those are the ones I see a lot in used gun displays.

I shoot a 2” steel Kframe 38 more in a week than you ever have or will. There’s a good chance I’ll go put a few hundred rounds through one this evening, again.

Stuff like that happens when you have a range, and a casting setup, and reloading gear and components instead of just your imagination.

You must adore negative attention.

The beauty of the all steel snub k frame 38 is realized when you actually shoot one.

Most of the police trade in’s were Model 10 with a 4” barrel, at least from what I saw. Unbelievable price when the market got flooded. For a too short of time. I really enjoy shooting S&W handguns and that includes a model 10 that the wife said was “HERS”. She had a choice of other guns and she wanted the 10.

If you know how to shoot a double action revolver, they are sweet shooters, and with modern +P JHP loads, plenty effective.
