I ran into a Remington 870 16 ga (older one) with a plain barrel and a corn cob style forearm. The bluing was about 70% overall, but the action was still tight. Wood was ok and in better shape than the bluing so I don't know if it had been refinished or not. They were asking $650 for it.
I know that 16 gauges do bring a better price but not sure it should be that high. What do they run from what you have seen?
Thanks

Have 1 just about like that 28" full choke 16 ga plain barrel grooved forend. 90%+ on wood & metal finish only noticeable wear is the anodizing on the trigger guard edges. Paid 275 for it 2 months a go. It would sell for an easy 500-550 bucks right now. Smooth and light , why sell it? Never replace it with anything worth a damn for what I have in it.

Does seem a bit high.
A year ago I paid that amount for a 1954 ADL model, 16 ga. original finish in 90+ condition.
But it's possible that prices have risen since then.

Remington stuff has went crazy in the last few years. There will never be a 16 gauge Wingmaster made again and that price is definitely high for the condition but not absurdly so. 16s and even more so the small gauge 870s are tough to find. It would take 650 to pry this one away ( 3rd from the right. Mid 50s 16 , modified plain barrel) . But this is better than the description of the one you saw

Had mine out for a round of 16 yd trap today 24/25 shoots sweet. Nice, light, simple. For a pure hunting gun it's as good as it gets...mb

Where I'm at, one as you describe would be +/- $550, but there's always the anomaly.

If you were within 200 miles, I would gladly grant you the privilege of having that 16 pried from your 870-stained hands for $650. ๐Ÿ˜€

Given that George, I'll bet that the wife's 870 Wingmaster factory rib 20 gauge LW 2 3/4" 28" modified would go high too. She has never shot it and I ran a couple boxes of sporting clays 20's through it this winter. Is the best way to sell it through consignment or to one of you guys?

While I havenโ€™t for quite a while, Iโ€™ve sold quite a few here successfully and with no problems.

Yes, I know this thread is old, but:

My younger brother had an 870 Wingmaster 20 ga LW. Same as the one mentioned above, but for the VR. We hunted together every day of pheasant season. He died in 1980 in a car wreck. That shotgun was all I had left of him but memories. Until Some SOB burgled the house in '85 and got away with it.

Had I stumbled over another in the subsequent 38 years, I would have bought it in a heartbeat. I really should commence an actual search.

This one is on G'broker for only $1757. Yes I still have higher priorities at this time.

Holy smokes Idaho Shooter!!! I had no idea what the wife's LW should sell for, so I did bring it to our local consignment gun shop to see if they could get it into a bidding thing on some national site. It should be there about now. Hers didn't look much different from the one pictured, but I can hit better with my M12 20 gauge, so that 20 gauge 870 LW is being sold.

I bought one this week at LGS. Iโ€™d call it 90%. Best I can tell itโ€™s an early 70s gun. Has a 26โ€ IC ribbed barrel, and also a 28โ€ full, not ribbed.
Got it for $550 plus tax.

That was a good buy. Spare barrel alone is an easy $250 in 16
