The safe clearing continues, this time with one I know I will never be able to replace... frown

It's a Shilen DGA action with a full contour (i.e. HEAVY) stainless 25" Douglas barrel chambered in 222 Rem. For those unfamiliar with them, the DGA is a benchrest single shot action. This is a very early one (#036). It is in a "custom" wink stock, that I have no info on. When I got it, it looked like it was roughed in with a chainsaw. I spent lots of time filing and sanding to get it presentable. However, it does work very well in supporting the heavy barrel, having a wide flat bottom for the bench, and a thick comb that actually fits your face and is very comfortable. The blue on the action is a bit thin and could stand to be redone sometime in the future. However, there is no rust, etc, just thinning blue. The barrel is stamped J GRAHAM, if anybody knows any background on him. The barrel does have one small spot about halfway down that had lightly rusted before I got it. I cleaned it and JB'd it, and other than picking up a bit of fouling, it has no effect on accuracy. As might be expected, this rifle is superbly accurate. Recoil is practically non-existent (222 in a HEAVY rifle), so it's a lot of fun to shoot and watch the tiny groups through the scope! (BTW, I have an original Shilen walnut stock, as well as a brand new McMillan Heavy Varmint for it as well. However, they are both inletted for more of a traditional "standard" heavy barrel, i.e. #7 contour, and won't work with this barrel. They can be negotiated with the rifle, in case you plan on rebarrelling it.) Scope and rings not included. Price is $1000 plus shipping to FFL (it's heavy, in case I didn't mention that earlier... wink ).

That stock looks like a wooden checkered flag. It's just gotta be from the 1970's!

From a high school wood shop project in the 70's!

Just look at it as "unique". laugh

(Regardless of looks, it is a definite shooter....)

Besides, I've got two more stocks here for it. A very nice walnut (one solid piece of walnut wink ) and a McMillan, both just waiting for a rebarrel, if I (or someone else) ever manages to shoot out this barrel...

I've had some requests to see the other stocks (factory walnut and McMillan HV), so here's a few pictures.

The McMillan is brand new, the factory is excellent. Neither have been bedded or modified.

They are available with the rifle at a negotiated price, but I won't sell them before the rifle. Thanks.
