Down to my last set of Diamond R510 fencing pliers. We just got done replacing 100 year old fence in rough country, steep slopes. Didn't want to risk losing the old Diamonds, so broke out a set of Moore Maker fencing pliers I had gotten as a gift. I might like them better. Taking out the old fence entailed a lot of wire cutting, they worked great. I refuse to use cheap fencing pliers, they're clumsy and won't cut or grip anything.

I have a bucket that keeps all my fencing tools. You're right, a good set of fencing pliers is hard to find. I'll have to look at those Moore Maker. Here's another tool I'd never do without. It's a Boston Post Hole Digger.. I spent many summers using one of these on the farm and nothing works better in rocky soil. I use it now to clean out holes I auger with the tractor.

That Boston digger looks interesting. I may have to invest. The Moore Maker pliers I was using were the MM 85 model. They also make a bull nose plier. It might be worth looking into as well. Another tool I'm interested in is the Texas Fence Fixer. Have you ever used one?

They call them "End Nippers", wire cutters. I bought one at Habor Freight, the handles bend.
These premises insured by a Sheltie in Training ,--- and Cooey.o "May the Good Lord take a likin' to you"

I've never used a Texas Fence Fixer, but I looked it up after you made mention of it. I've seen one before but didn't realize that's what it was called. Looks like it would work OK for tightening wire, even for an old brittle fence. I also use a Kencove Fence Stretcher and a Wire Gripper from Tractor Supply.

I think brittle old black wire is where the TFF would excel. No eye to form or cuts in the wire. I've got miles of old fence, think I'll get one.
